Checkout.com Drives Higher Conversion for Trading Depot

Trading Depot, one of the UK’s largest online building, plumbing and electrical supplies stores in the country, sees a conversion lift since switching to Checkout.com.
With the promise of delivering good value, the widest selection, and fast service, Trading Depot’s ecommerce team was disappointed to see that some of their customers were abandoning their orders at the checkout stage – and that’s when they turned to Checkout.com.
Launched in 2008, Trading Depot is one of the UK’s largest online building, plumbing, and electrical supplies stores in the country with over 50,000 products, and hundreds more added each month. In addition to keeping the largest inventory of stock, Trading Depot prides itself on providing the best customer service and offering the fastest and most convenient way to shop for home materials online.
With their previous payments provider, customers were being routed off Trading Depot’s website during checkout, leaving customers confused and uncertain about entering sensitive payment information – and for those customers that followed through with the transaction, they were met with a slow and cumbersome payment form in order to complete the transaction.
“Checkout.com’s platform auto-detects the card type, validates, and captures card information from a single checkout page, giving our customers a much better and smoother user experience. It has also reduced our overall processing fees. We no longer have to account for the drop-off due to the three additional steps customers previously had to take via our last provider’s old fashion UX,” says Darren House, Director at Trading Depot.
Checkout.com’s fraud tools have also helped improve fraud detection and prevention. Their integration with Magento Commerce, a Checkout.com partner, has also elevated Trading Depot’s ecommerce operations, “We’ve been using Magento for nearly four years. Our ecommerce channel has grown significantly since our integration and we’ve been able to leverage many of their advanced features,” says House.
By integrating Checkout.com and Magento Commerce, Trading Depot has experienced significant year-over-year growth, “Our customers are 50% trade and 50% retail and we’ve seen growth on both sides. We’ve seen a 40% year-over-year growth since making the switch,” adds House.
Through Checkout.com’s advanced payment features, they hope to expand into new regions and accept more customers outside of the UK and look forward to settling in more currencies. Trading Depot will continue to leverage Checkout.com and the new features and functions within Magento Commerce to deliver the best user experience for their B2B and B2C customers.
